I've read a few of these and have now added a few to my list! Grief Is For People also made it in my top nonfiction (posted today) and James will appear on my fiction favorites next week. So many good books this year - thank you for sharing some of yours!

Grief Is For People was my first book of hers and I loved her writing too! Do you have a recommendation for other books of hers? I have I Was Told There'd Be Cake checked out from the library so I'll hopefully get to that one soon!

I haven’t read her novels yet, but her essays are funny. I Was Told There’d Be Cake was how I got hooked.

Thank you for these recs! I love Edith Wharton so I’m curious—which work of hers did you read?

I read Custom of the Country, which is so good, and Ghosts for Halloween. I love her too! Which of her books is your favorite?

Oh yes! Undine Spragg is awful, esp to her first two husbands. I loved The House of Mirth, more than The Age of Innocence actually. So quietly tragic. I adore Wharton’s dark drawing room realism. What a master of observation she must have been! I will put Ghosts for Halloween on my TBR. Thank you!
